Know More Before You Buy A Puppy

Buying a puppy, bringing a new member into your family is a moment of abundant happiness. Because we want the best for our new family member, we must make sure we consider the following points before taking the plunge.

1. Do Adequate Research

Before buying a puppy, it’s important to research the breed of puppy you would like to buy. Looks can be deceiving, so you need to look beyond the cuteness. A thorough understanding of the breeds would be favorable. If one has children in the house, then they might want to consider children friendly dogs only.

Furthermore, one needs to keep in mind the size of the home or apartment they live in. If the place is small, you may want to go with puppies that don’t need a lot of room indoors to be comfortable. Keeping in mind all the pros and cons, you can do proper research and then mull over buying a puppy.

2. Not Me, It’s “US” Now

One has to keep in mind that now every thought should be about both of you, you and your puppy. Your time is not just yours. A puppy requires a lot of time. They need their routine, suitable foods, playtime, and a lot more.

Puppies are fun to be around, but it comes with a lot of responsibility. Just like small babies that cannot speak, one needs to understand their requirement and give them lots of attentions, love, and care. If you are working, you need to think of means to accommodate your puppy by either hiring someone to take care or adjusting your routine.

Ensure your house is puppy proof. Puppies have a penchant for chewing leather, sofas, shoes, and just about anything else they get their paws on. Furthermore, they may pee anywhere and everywhere till they get trained.

3. Honey, I Cost Money

As adorable as puppies are, they come with expenses. Puppies fall sick, and visits to the vet are not cheap. If you don’t want your sofas to be chewed, make sure to bring chewing toys for your puppy. Some dogs have picky tastes. While some dogs eat whatever you put in front of them, you will have to get special foods for others.

Moreover, if you are working and do not have time to take your puppy for a walk, you will have to hire a caretaker for your dog. All these costs added to turn out to be a major chunk of your money.

But with all the costs involved, there is so much reward! Being a pet owner gives you the chance to love and be loved unconditionally by your four-legged friend. So if you’re ready to take the plunge and become a pet owner, congratulations!
